Time of event: Monday, October 17, 2016 – 15:37
Description of event:
A trawler BXM 484, red hull white SST, headed for tower, turned through 90 degrees in the scallop bed leaving a floating object, judged to be a small boat, trawler went to BXM. SCG was contacted reported visual, asked to keep watch on both floating object and trawler. Incident report 027470 Floating object sank, clear visual on BXM as object sank stern first leaving no debris on surface SCG notified re sinking object. Trawler BXM went in to Brixham breakwater. lifeboat visual on BXM Torbay LB contacted NCI tower requesting details/directions. Several discussions with CG by phone and TLB by radio during this period LB requested tower to confirm with CG exactly what the object was/might have been (trawler skipper reported a fibreglass object to heavy to handle dropped near Thatcher Rock) clarified with CG the direction and change of course of BMX 484 and in our view was a small boat/tender dumped in western corner of scallop beds. Lifeboat called off after reporting nothing/no-one on surface in area.

Description of event:
Solent Coastguard put out a call reference a grey RIB with one person on board adrift in Meadfoot Bay towards rocks the RIB had engine failure. Torbay NCI called Solent Coastguard and informed them that casualty was under observation by the Torbay tower, Solent put a further call out for all boats in that area to assist, a little while later a second RIB appeared from round Thatcher Point and attended the casualty. Torbay NCI informed Solent that the casualty was now under tow to Torquay Harbour. Solent thanked Torbay NCI and stood down Brixham ILB.

Description of event:
11:45 HMCG advised by telephone that a member of public reported that a 12 ‘ inflatable with small O/B & 2 Persons on Board was making little progress to West against F5 breeze. Requested to leave tower & look over the cliff edge. HMCG advised that if boat was hugging the coast for shelter, it would not be in view from the tower. 11:49 Reported to HMCG by telephone that nothing relevant seen. HMCG advised that boat was now ashore at the next beach to Meadfoot according to a member of public. 12:33 However during the call with HMCG visual was obtained of the casualty paddling behind Thatcher Point. Harbour Masters RIB Oscar 4 eventually closed with the casualty at 12:41. HMCG so advised. 13:7 Oscar 4 reported casualty safely ashore.

Time of event: Saturday, August 20, 2016 – 15:10
Description of event:
Two paddle boarders observed over approximately 15 minutes and were clearly going to have trouble returning to Livermead beach against a strong westerly wind and a choppy sea. One watch keeper went from the tower to the cliff edge to try to monitor them. Meanwhile a call came through from Solent CG saying that a member of public had reported seeing paddle boarders falling in. At approximately 15:35 we contacted Solent CG on 999 s we could no longer see paddle boarders and suggested Torbay ILB carry out a search if casualties not seen going into Meadfoot beach. Solent CG telephoned Meadfoot beach café who reported seeing paddle boarders come ashore.

Description of event:
Received phone call from casualty ‘ Wave Surfer’, location at 5 knot marker off Oddicombe beach, requesting assistance. Casualty phone 07854215608. NCI Torbay called Solent CG with information given. 15:55 Solent CG on Ch. 16 requested vessels in the area for assistance. Yacht ‘Ben More’ responded to give tow assistance. 16:35 ‘Ben More’ reported to Solent CG vessel under tow to Torquay Harbour. 17:35 Yacht ‘Ben More’ towed ‘Wav Surfer’ with two persons on board into Torquay Harbour.

Description of event:
16.30 Person in wheelchair seen by watchkeeper getting out of chair and sitting on cliff top railings. getting himself to the ground on the cliff side. Please were called and they said they had just been alerted by a MOP at the same time. 16.35 Police arrived they jumped the rails and pulled the person from the edge of the cliffs, with help from MOP,s 18.20 The police & and ambulance we still on the scene attending to the casualty.

Description of event:
14.21 Solent CG tasked mobil CG to observe adrift motor vessel. vessel was at 83 deg & 0.9nm from tower. 14.22 Watchkeeper contacted SCG to offer assistance giving description of 2 persons on board. 14.32 TIL tasked to attend. 14.44 TIL arrived at scene. out board motor not working. 14.46 Vessel towed to Torquay harbour, No injuries to casualties. 15.27 Solent CG gave standown.

Description of event:
Received a radio call on channel 65 from a yacht coming down the river dart they had observed a 42 yacht on its side on the Anchorstone. Torbay NCI called Solent coastguard who launched the lifeboat to assist. The Dartmouth lifeboat confirm it is ground and good should float on incoming tide.

Description of event:

Solent CG requested lat & long from us of stricken vessel, we may have a visual of. CG call for any vessels nearby to assist. Brixham life boat was launched. Vessel crew reported that they managed to free prop and were making their way into Brixham harbour escorted by lifeboat and another yacht.

Description of event:
Report at tower by MoP that their dog over cliff, Call 999 for coastguard they told watch keeper they would phone back with decisions of any action they would take. Owners husband went over cliff, and returned with dog at 20.15 with dog in his arm. unfortunately the dog had died. CG rand back at 20.16 saying they will not take any action.

Description of event:
Small rib capsized off Meadfoot beach. 2 persons in water holding rib. Phoned Solent coastguard on 999 we were asked to keep an eye on casualties, while they contact rescue services. 2 man kayak went to help & towed casualties to Meadfoot beach. RNLI mobile team contacted us on CH65 to say they have casualties on beach.

Smoke spotted by MoP (A watchkeeper) contacted tower by phone. Phoned fire service. They confirmed they were attending a fire. 3 youths spotted by tower watch keeper. Description reported.

Description of event:
Females voice “man down – man down” call over the radio on Ch 9 a little time after heard “I need some help” then heard ” we really need some help” Watch keeper did not here a response from anyone so called Solent CG, watch keeper was informed that they will monitor for further transmissions. Nothing else heard.

MOP phoned Torbay to see if we could spot his son on sailboard. Sailboard spotted by watch keeper paddling board possible equipment failure. Phoned Solent CG. Teignmouth AWL on rout from Torquay to Teignmouth to assist with help from watch keeper on Channel 0.

Description of event:
Torbay NCI contacted by Torquay harbour authority of yacht MERRY WAKE leaving torquay in poor condition, single handed to get to Kingswear for repairs. We called Solent CG to tell the of our concerns & it seems the the yacht seems to be drifting approx at 3.5 nm out to sea. CG tried to contact yacht with no reply. Torbay NCI were asked to continue watching. At 18.00 CG informed that torbay NCI station is closing.

Casualty spotted @ 15.45 Local boats arrived on scene, casualty taken on board. Turned out to 80 year old male.

Received telephone call from Solent CC ref 2 canoes with persons hanging on to them near Hopes Nose

15:15   Persons spotted by Torbay NCI bearing 115 degrees approx. 2 NM

15:16  NCI confirmed location with Solent CC

15:20 Torbay ILB launched
15:27 ILB 400mtrs from casualty and has visual
15:30 Casualties taken on ILB, being checked over by paramedic
16:00  ILB arrived Torquay Harbour
16:05 Casualties taken to Torbay Hospital by ambulance
16:10 Thanks given to Torbay NCI from Solent CC for job well done
At 1615 3 persons rescued bt Torbay ILB, taken to Torquay Harbour then taken by ambulance to hospital. No further Information
